Why work for ODST
At ODST we pride ourselves on being very different from the image you might have of working for a large multi academy trust. We strive to nurture our dedicated and talented staff, who care passionately about children, and support them to develop their skills to deliver the best-possible education.
We are wholly committed to our family feel and preserving and developing the unique nature of each of our schools. Our schools are empowered to make the decisions they believe to be right for their pupils and community. They are supported by our small central team to ensure they have the resources and skills to be able to do the job brilliantly.
Support and development
ODST believes strongly in cultivating school environments where adults as well as children can flourish. We offer:
- a listening culture that values staff wellbeing and feedback
- high quality CPD and development opportunities led by experienced school leaders, and national programmes such as NPQs and apprenticeships
- opportunities to learn from and share expertise with peers across a large network of over 40 schools.

Here's what staff in our schools have to say:
'What do I enjoy the most? Working with the kids! Gaining leadership experience, mentoring ECTs and students, implementing and seeing positive change across a subject. Developing my own skills and professional development, and visiting other schools to get a better understanding of how an effective school works, which helps me with ideas for our school.'
'The team - from head teacher to caretaker - are kind, caring and supportive. We are all united under one goal and always prepared to support each other.'
'I feel valued and supported. CPD is a focus at the school. A relaxed yet productive atmosphere of professionals promotes a positive team who give freely of their time and expertise.'
'It is a privilege to be the Maths Coordinator and look at the maths books through the school to see how everyone is working so well, putting into practice the training over the past few years. The ODST maths training has been helpful with ideas and to meet other ODST teachers - it makes us feel part of the wider community.'
'I am encouraged to make decisions and choices for my own career as well as supporting others in the subjects that I lead.'
Equal opportunities
ODST is a fair employer promoting equal opportunities, which do not disadvantage any person on the grounds of a protected characteristic. It is designed to ensure that clear and transparent guidelines are provided for all working in ODST and to ensure that ODST complies with its legal obligations under the Equality Act (2010).
