Wallingford schools development
Investing in the future for Wallingford families
ODST is pleased to be working on an exciting development project to provide new facilities and expand the age range of St Nicholas CE Infants' School and Fir Tree Junior School in Wallingford.
St Nicholas CE Infants' School and Fir Tree Junior School have a long history of providing excellent education in Wallingford. Beginning in September 2026, both will undergo a change of phase to become all-through primary schools, bringing them in line with other Oxfordshire schools. Both will provide high-quality education for children aged 3-11, with nursery provision at each school to ensure children get off to the best start.
The plan is designed to provide high-quality education for the future, meeting the needs of local families as new housing contributes to the the town growing and developing. St Nicholas school will move to a brand new building, located on a new site as part of the Highcroft housing development. Fir Tree school will remain on its current site, with new and upgraded facilities.
The project is being delivered by Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust (ODST), Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) and Oxford Diocesan Board of Education (ODBE), with major capital investment from the Highcroft housing estate developers and OCC.
Consultation
A public consultation period, intended to gain feedback on the change of age range for the schools, ran from 6 September to 11 October 2024, however information can still be downloaded below.
ODST and OCC are committed to ensuring that the next steps in this exciting project are taken with the needs of our school communities at the forefront of decision making. We will be considering consultation feedback from current families, families interested in joining either school in the future, and wider stakeholders.
Next steps and further information will continue to be published on this page as plans develop.
